This recipe started out as a variation of my other granola bar recipe. However, it evolved into something totally different quickly. Date, sesame and honey are an amazing flavor combination and the consistency was way better than my previous tries.
Ingredients
v4
same as v3 but added 20g cocoa nibs. it was amazing. The bitterness is not noticeable but rounds up the overall taste perfectly.
v3
- 50g crushed oatmeal
- 60g hazelnuts
- 60g almonds
- 60g cashew nuts
- 75g sesame
- 300g date
- 25g habanero honey
- dash of salt
- 20g coconut oil
- 30g sunflower seeds
The habanero honey was an amazing improvement over the last version. The reduction of crushed oatmeal made it more soft and more sweet.
The nut mix was not perfect yet. The hazelnuts had an amazing consistency, though the taste was too intense overall. The cashew nuts had good taste, but were too soft. The almonds were neither here nor their.
v2
- 90g crushed oatmeal
- 170g nut mix
- 75g sesame
- 300g date
- 25g honey
- dash of salt
- 20g coconut oil
- 30g sunflower seeds
In this version I replaced the chia seeds with sesame for a more intense taste. As I ran low on nuts I added some sunflower seeds and they were an amazing addition for this granola bar
v1
- 90g crushed oatmeal
- 200g nut mix
- 50g sesame
- 300g date
- 25g honey
- dash of salt
- 20g coconut oil
- 25g tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
Blend the dates, honey, salt and coconut oil. Be careful not to damage your blender, this stuff is super sticky!
Get a big bowl and mix all ingredients together per hand. Prepare a baking form with baking paper and press the mass into it. Take your time and ensure that there are no rips, otherwise you will have a bad time cutting the bars.
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees and bake the bars for about 15 minutes. Let them fully cool down before placing them in the fridge for 2 hours.
Afterward take them out of the form and cut them into nice bars.
Tips
Get a big bowl for mixing all ingredients. Mixing it in a small one is annoying and will most likely make a mess.
