Marzipan potatoes made from scratch. Making the marzipan yourself is very easy, better tasting and let you control how sweet you want it to be in the end.

Ingredients

  • 200g almonds
  • 100g sugar
  • 15g rosewater/water
  • some cocoa powder
  • [optional: 100g powdered sugar]

Instructions

Peeling the almonds.

Bring 1/2 a liter water to boil. Add the almonds for 2 minutes. Strain them and shower them with cold water. Now one can easily remove their peels.

Making Marzipan

Add the normal sugar and blend the two ingredients. Usually rose water is used, however I used normal water instead.

Potatoing

Form thumb sized potatoes and roll them in unsweetened cocoa powder.

Tips

There should be only a very thin layer of cocoa powder on these potatoes. I found it easier to dust one hand in cocoa and roll the prepared balls between my hands instead of rolling them in cocoa directly.
