I remember making indian garam masala meatballs during my studies, though could not remember the recipe. For this one I used a lot of spices from the korean kitchen. The meat balls are spot on, though the sauce might benefit from some more experimenting.
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 400g minced beef
- 1tbsp ginger paste
- 1/2 tbsp garam masala
- salt & pepper
- some flour
- neutral tasting oil
- dash of sesame oil
Sauce
- 880g canned tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1tbsp soj sauce
- 1tbsp oyster sauce
- salt to taste
- 1 red thai chili
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
Mix the meatballs ingredients together, form little meatballs and roll them in flour. Blend all ingredients for the sauce except the lemon juice together.
Put some oil and a dash of sesame oil in a pan. Preheat it and start frying the meatballs until all sides got some colour. Add the sauce, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about one hour. Stir occasionally. At the end add the lemon juice. Serve the dish with rice.
Next Time…
The meatballs were amazing, though the sauce lacked some kick.
Try some lemon juice next time to enhance its flavor. Updated recipe.
The sauce might still benefit from adding another spice as sidekick.
