I guess most people will read this title, frown and read the next one. And while I do get the initial hesitation, trust me this dish is worth a try! Thanks Otto to introducing me to this romanian delicacy.
Ingredients
- 500g Onions
- 2 big red paprika
- 800g chicken hearts
- 3 tbsp sweet paprika powder
- 5tbsp water
- salt & pepper to taste
- chili to taste
- 1/2 tsp caraway
- a bit of thyme
- 3 garlic cloves
Instructions
Wash the hears and cut the garlic. Cut the onions and fry them in some oil in a big pot until golden. Add the paprika powder and other spices. Constantly stir and add the water when you notice that the spices stick to the pot. Add the hearts and close the pot. Let it simmer for about 45 minutes. Afterward add the paprika and let it simmer for another 30-40 minutes without lid. If there is too much water in the goulash, let it cook for another 10-20 minutes.
You can eat all kinds of side dishes to goulash, though I do prefer polenta.
